Pennsylvania is the seventh largest state to officially start accepting sports bets as well as the fourth country to launch online sports betting.
There are now eight retail sportsbooks in Pennsylvania, including six in the Philadelphia sports gambling market . There are three PA online gaming programs as well.
PA ONLINE SPORTS BETTING FINALLY UNDERWAY
After months of endless and waiting delays, there are online betting apps in Pennsylvania.
SugarHouse Sportsbook was the first Pennsylvania sportsbook launching on May 31, 2019.
Next to go live was Parx Sportsbook on June 24, followed by Bet Rivers one day after on June 25. Both passed the testing phase and became fully operational on June 27.
That the rollout of these apps is not simultaneous. Rather, operators may start whenever each is ready to submit to PGCB and receive testing underway. The expectation is that by football season there will be five or six apps for bettors to choose from.
Unfortunately, it seems like, at least for now, that there will not be a simple solution for iPhone users. Apple program store is cracking down on program admissions. As a result, most regulated US apps are having difficulty getting listed. Thus far, no PA programs have a prosperous iOS/iPhone solution.
When an upgrade to Apple program shop guidelines rolled out on June 3, those problems got worse. The brand new rule gives real-money online casino programs until Sept. 3 to fully convert the program to the native iOS platform.
Given that many online gambling programs are coded in HTML 5, the conversion process is difficult. It is going to probably have a year for casino apps to fully convert.
